Stable Glass Seals for Intermediate Temperature (IT) SOFC Applications

We will begin with a brief review of the state-of-the-art sealing concepts and sealing materials, followed by identifying the major problems for glass-based sealing materials. Then our new approach for sealing glass development will be introduced. Finally, the TEC, chemical compatibility with 8YSZ (8 mol% yttria stabilized zirconia) and thermal stability of the newly developed sealing glasses will be discussed in detail.
